OOGA BOOGA!
If you knew the game from the title alone, I applaud you. Of course, this week's focus is on the tremendous 'Crash Bandicoot'
Sometimes it is the simplest of games which are the most enjoyable... and this game certainly falls under that category. From dodging boulder, to collecting games, this game has neurmous levels to create fun for hours. This can either be enjoyed solo even playing with someone and taking turns as one dies, for example. With the original game released in 1996, it has still yet to lose its fun factor, and I personally think this is due to the upgrades this game has had whilst consoles have evolved. There is a great video series about this which I would highly recommend by Prosafia Gaming which shows snippets of each Crash Bandicoot, and clearly demonstrates the upgrade of gameplay, as each game has been released.
I personally have not played every single Crash Bandicoot game, so for the purpose of this blog I will be focusing on the newest release by the developers 'Crash bandicoot 4: It's About Time'. This version first saw release on PS4 and Xbox One, and further releases being developed for newer consoles and new consoles, such as PlayStation 5, X box Series X and S, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows in 2021. Whilst the game wasn't remastered as such, players dd see an enhancement to the gameplay, particularly in my experience playing on PlayStation 5, visually noticing the 4k resolution and 60frame rates a second.
It may seem like a silly point, but the game was improved 100% by having a decent pair of headphones. I personally use Sony's own PlayStation headphones, and they truly immerse players into the game which makes the purchase much more worth it.
I would also say the Dualsense Controller of the PlayStation 5 brings a larger difference to the gameplay compared to the PlayStation 4, with haptic feedback, you really do feel like a character in the game with every jump, slide and special move performed.
I don't think Crash Bandicoot is a game I could get bored of. It is such an easy 'pick up where you left off game' and gives the player no pressure to have to play for lengthy hours to find out what happens. Of course, there is still that nostalgic feel, with the same Villans and bosses to defeat, which makes the game memorable for old players.
If you are interested in a game to play in your spare time, I would highly recommend this one. For all age ranges to enjoy it is definitely a need to download, even if not played right away
